Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 black tea bags (or 6 teaspoons loose leaf black tea)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Fresh strawberries and lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with the sugar over medium heat, stirring until dissolved. Add sliced strawberries and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a heatproof bowl to create strawberry syrup.
  2. Boil the remaining 7 cups of water, steep the tea bags in a pitcher for 3-5 minutes, then remove them and let the tea cool.
  3. Blend cooled strawberry syrup and lemon juice into the tea. Adjust sweetness if needed and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Serve over ice with garnishes.
