  • 2 cans (15 oz each) pumpkin puree
  • 4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apple juice or water
  • 1 cups brown sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and chop the Gala apples. Place them in a large pot or slow cooker.
  2. Add the pumpkin puree, spices, vanilla extract, and apple juice or water to the pot. Mix well.
  3. Cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours until apples are soft.
  4. Mash the mixture to your desired consistency—smooth or chunky.
  5. Stir in brown sugar along with optional orange zest or ground ginger to taste.
  6. Allow to cool before storing in jars; refrigerate for up to one week or freeze for longer storage.
