  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for streusel topping)
  • ¼ cup butter cubed
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2½ teaspoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter, egg, and buttermilk until well combined.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, cinnamon, flour, and brown sugars for the streusel topping; mix until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle half the streusel mixture over the batter, then add the remaining batter on top.
  8. Finish by sprinkling the remaining streusel on top.
